Agenda Title:
Proclamation in recognition of "Month of the Military Child"
Ward 3 Councilmember - Travis Lindley
ISSUE AND BACKGROUND:
“Month of the Military Child” proclamation was requested by Smyrna Ward 3 resident Tracy Clark,
and supported by Ward 3 Councilmember, Travis Lindley.
The Month of the Military Child recognizes that military kids serve our country too, as part of a
military family – not just in April, but all year long. These amazing kids face challenges and enjoy
triumphs along the way, and while no military child’s journey is the same, they each have a through-
line that connects them by experience, globally.
The Clark family will accept the proclamation. They are a retired Army family who first bought their
home on Powder Springs Street in 2001 when Tracy’s husband was stationed at Ft. Mac and was
deploying to Bosnia. They have 4 children and have moved all over the world, but always kept their
home in Smyrna if they needed a landing spot. After 38 years of service (enlisted and officer), Mr.
Clark is now retired and happy to call Smyrna home again.
