1. Roll Call 
 
         Present:  5 – Councilmember/Chair Rickey N. Oglesby, Jr., Committee Member Vanya

2. Call to Order 
 
The May 2, 2025 Smyrna Public Art Committee held at A. Max Bacon City Hall in the HR 
Training Room was called to order at 11:38 AM.  
 
3. Chairperson Instruction and Comment 
 
Rickey N. Oglesby Jr. welcomed the group by giving a recap of the previous weekend’s events, 
which included: the Smyrna Jonquil Festival and Economic Development’s Downtown 
Redevelopment Community Input meeting. Chairman Rickey N. Oglesby Jr. also mentioned the 
crosswalk art on King Street and how it brings joy and beauty to the city.    
 
4. Formal Business 
 
 A. 2025-182 Fire Hydrant Painting Weekend 
 
Carson Haynie, Special Projects Manager, informed the committee that all but one artist is 
scheduled to paint their fire hydrant on May 10 and May 11, confirming a total of 13 artists 
with 14 painted hydrants. Carson Haynie also highlighted the map that Anna Talarico 
created that portrays the designs that will be going on their specific fire hydrants. Carson 
Haynie encouraged the committee to visit the artists on the day of the painting. Carson 
Haynie explained that safety vests will be available for artists to pick up at the Smyrna 
Community Center front desk. If weather conditions call for a new painting date, artists will 
use the alternative rain dates of May 24 and May 25 to complete the project.
