Carson Haynie suggested incorporating the event into the 2027 Jonquil Festival, and the Committee agreed that this would be a good time of year due to the heat. Carson Haynie also mentioned that there may be opportunities to identify additional funding sources for the event. The Committee agreed that, because the initiative is still relatively new, it would be best to incorporate it into another City event again to maximize visibility and attendance. Carson Haynie noted that, based on artist feedback from the 2026 event, staff is considering expanding the event to two days to give artists more time to complete their paintings. Carson Haynie asked whether the Crosswalk Murals were a priority. The Committee collectively agreed that they missed the murals and would like to pursue replacing them. Carson Haynie explained that the option staff felt most comfortable with for a successful, long-lasting installation would be to use StreetBond thermoplastic. She explained that a digital artist would submit a design and a StreetBond representative would come out to install it. Carson Haynie estimated that the project would cost approximately $25,000 for both crosswalks and noted that the installations would last for years. Chairperson Oglesby suggested that the Committee explore sponsorship opportunities to help extend the funding available for the public art projects they are interested in pursuing. Anna Talarico stated that a sponsor would not be able to dictate the terms of what type of public art is used with a donation. Chairperson Oglesby said there should be some type of incentive for sponsors, such as a sign with the business name at the project site. Carson Haynie redirected the conversation and confirmed that the Committee would like to focus on a larger project, such as the Argyle Bridge Mural, for the FY27 Public Artwork Plan; explore cost-sharing opportunities for Brush & Box Fest; and explore sponsorship opportunities for the Crosswalk Murals. Carson Haynie then asked what the priority should be for the ARTery in FY27, and the Committee confirmed that sculptures should be the priority. Anna Talarico noted that the Committee should consider the locations of projects along the ARTery and ensure that they are relatively close together so the projects maintain the “trail” concept for which the ARTery is intended. 5.
