PRC2026-007 Proclamation in recognition of Month of the Military Child Ward 3 Councilmember - Travis Lindley Councilmember Travis Lindley introduced the Clark Family and read the proclamation aloud: • Sponsored by Councilmember Lindley • Presenting to: The Clark Family (Ward 3 residents) • Tim (dad), Tracy (mom), daughters Grace & Elizabeth and son Sean will be in attendance; daughter Caroline is unable to attend Lt. Col. Tim Clark, U.S. Army (Ret.) • Retired US Army Lieutenant Colonel (LTC) – served nearly 40 years • Enlisted in the US Army Reserve in 1985 as a Private First Class • LTC Clark commissioned in 1996 as a Second Lieutenant through the Illinois National Guard Officer Candidate School while pursuing his bachelor’s degree at Loyola University Chicago • LTC Clark has served in a variety of tactical, operational and strategic units during his almost 40 years of service • LTC Clark holds a BA in Political Science from Loyola Univ Chicago and a MS in Army Operations and National Security from the Univ of Maryland Univ College. LTC Clark is also a graduate of US Army Command and General Staff College at Fort Leavenworth KS and the Joint Forces Staff College Advanced Joint Professional Military Education Course at Norfolk VA • LTC Clark retired June 1st 2023 at Fort Benning, GA. A PROCLAMATION BY THE MAYOR OF THE CITY OF SMYRNA In Recognition of Month of the Military Child April 2026 Whereas: Thousands of brave Georgians serve in the military and have taken the oath to support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; and Whereas: The children of these brave men and women make significant contributions to our schools, communities, and the State of Georgia, despite prolonged and repeated absences of one or both parents; and Whereas: Georgia's military children are a source of pride and honor to us all, and it is fitting that we take time to recognize their contributions, celebrate their spirit, and let our men and women in uniform know that, while they take care of us, we will take care of their children; and Whereas: The recognition of April as Month of the Military Child provides a special opportunity to pay tribute to military children for their commitment, their sacrifice, and their unconditional support of our troops; and Whereas: Georgians are encouraged to observe this month by connecting with military children and families to provide support to all Georgia children affected by the deployment of parents and other caring adults in their lives; Now - Therefore: I, Derek Norton, Mayor of the City of Smyrna, Georgia, do hereby proclaim April 2026 as Month of the Military Child in the City of Smyrna and
