Citywide ISSUE AND BACKGROUND: The Front Yard Tree Program is a tree planting campaign by Trees Atlanta to increase the planting of shade trees in front yards to help increase overall tree canopy coverage in Smyrna. The partnership between the City of Smyrna and Trees Atlanta allows trees to be planted on private property located in Smyrna using funds from the Tree Bank not to exceed $16,250.00 per planting season. The total cost of each front yard tree is $325 during the 2025-26 planting season. Trees Atlanta will manage the tree requests, coordinate with homeowners, and install the tress. RECOMMENDATION / REQUESTED ACTION: Environmental Services, Keep Smyrna Beautiful and the Community Development Arborist recommend approval of the 2025 – 2026 Front Yard Tree Program Campaign by Trees Atlanta in Partnership with the City of Smyrna.
