DEMONSTRATED EXPERIENCE
Designing Local is a certified woman-owned business
dedicated to helping communities connect people to place
through culture. Founded in 2014, our firm was born from
the belief that design, art, culture, historic preservation, and
other important unique attributes of communities are often
overlooked in the planning process. We bring an authentic
curiosity and passion to our work.
We recognize that prosperity and economic development
come from strategically planning and investing in our
communities culture and unique assets. The result: better
community relations, increased pride and ownership by
stakeholders, and revered places that people and businesses
naturally choose to be a part of. We seek to help communities
grow their pride, realize their ability to influence the future,
and create a prosperous community for all.
Our process is straightforward and simple. Through robust and
creative public engagement we help to extract the story of
the place in which we are working. We take that story, as told
by the community itself, and help translate that into a unique,
interesting, and powerful built environment.
STAFFING & TRAVEL TO SMYRNA
Designing Local has a total of 12 employees all located in
Columbus, Ohio. Although we do not have employees located
in Georgia, we are well equipped to reliably manage projects
outside of our region, and we do so regularly by utilizing
virtual collaboration tools. The proposed team regularly travels
to projects in cities, towns, and villages across the country
to provide specialized planning expertise, particularly in the
Atlanta Metro Region. We are currently working to facilitate
public art projects in Woodstock, Georgia and in the past
have completed projects in 8 other Atlanta Metro Cities.
Additionally our Managing Principal is a Georgia native and
travels back frequently on both a personal and professional
level. We look at Georgia as a second home for Designing
Local.

Dear Ms. Golden:
Congratulations! Based on your application and supplemental information, your application for certification
for the State of Rhode Island Minority Business Enterprise Program has been approved. Your “Minority
Business Certification Number” which you can utilize as proof of your status is MBCN 2434. Your
company has been approved as a WBE for the following scope(s): “Urban planning providing
specialized services in arts and culture planning, public art facilitation” under primary NAICS Code
541320 and additional NAICS Codes 925120, 541720.
It is your responsibility to notify the MBE Compliance Office of any changes in the ownership or control
of your business within 30 days of such change. In order to maintain your certification, you must submit
your annual review package thirty (30) days prior to your annual review date of 5/24/2024 5/24/2024, and
annually each year thereafter.
Your annual review package must include:
(a) a completed MBE/WBE No Change Affidavit.
(b) current corporate federal tax returns, including all federal schedules and attachments, for the applicant
firm and any affiliate firms as applicable.
(c) copy of your current certification letter from your home state UCP if firm is not based in Rhode Island.
(d) copy of pertinent Rhode Island licenses if business is operating in a licensed industry.
Failure to submit your annual review package will result in an administrative removal of your certification.
Please be advised every five (5) years, your firm will undergo a more substantive review, including a review
of personal financial information and economic disadvantage status, as well as a new site visit and interview
as applicable.
You may access bid opportunities on the Division of Purchase’s website, located at www.ridop.ri.gov , and
we encourage you to register as a vendor with them. We wish you success in the State of Rhode Island’s
