Smyrna streets. Brief discussion took place among Mayor and Council, and this will be brought 
up with Mike Jones and Chief Zgonc. 
  
Councilmember Hines – Announced the Black History Month celebration will be on February 27. 
And she noted that the Cobb NAACP will have a Martin Luther King, Jr. program on Monday. 
She is hosting her Ward 2 meeting next week in Council Chambers. And she mentioned 
LiveSafe Resources and their Women of Achievement Award. They have listed Laura Norton 
and Kathy Young as nominees this year. She also requested that there be a Homeless Task 
Force with partnership with other jurisdictions. 
  
Councilmember Wilkinson – She discussed the issue of unhoused individuals who sleep on 
mattresses in the woods. Those mattresses end up being picked up during heavy storms and 
washed down to stormwater drains causing blockages. 
  
Councilmember Welch – He mentioned a meeting that he and Mayor Norton have on Thursday 
night.  
  
Councilmember Oglesby (phone) – He has a Ward 7 meeting tomorrow. He mentioned the 
Riverview Road area which is part of at least three different jurisdictions. The Smyrna portion is 
well-maintained, but the other areas look like dumping grounds. He also stated that his new 
restaurant is going great.
