More residents will be able to see the art if it is in other areas besides the ARTery. Imani Thomas and Robert Harrison agreed. Rickey N Oglesby, Jr. stated that he wants this project to touch all wards and said that they should go in high traffic areas for visibility. Imani Thomas suggested that we begin with the South Cobb Drive and Highland Parkway utility box. Carson Haynie showed the committee a spreadsheet of the city-owned utility boxes. The committee viewed Google Earth images of each of the intersections. They then selected several locations in each ward for the project, including alternative locations. The project will likely begin with one intersection at each of the following wards: Ward 1: Spring Road and Cumberland Boulevard Spring Road and Park Drive Ward 2: Spring Road and Jonquil Drive Village Parkway and Lake Park Drive Ward 5: South Cobb Drive at the Kroger Entrance South Cobb Drive and Windy Hill Road Windy Hill Road and Belmont Place Ward 7: Highland Parkway and Oakdale Road South Cobb Drive and Highland Parkway Carson Haynie will share their selections with the Engineering Department to narrow down the best locations. The committee said that they would like to see art along the future River Walk at Riverview Road in Ward 7. Rickey N. Oglesby, Jr., said that he sees the project touching all of the wards, and he would like to see a reflection of the community from each ward in the artwork. Anna asks the committee if they want each wrap to reflect the area. Rickey says yes. Anna says that the committee would need to gather ward profiles. Rickey N. Oglesby, Jr. suggests reaching out to Jennie Eldredge (Museum Manager) about descriptions for each ward. Robert Harrison asked if we can reach out to each council member and have them refer the committee to someone within the ward. Members of the committee voiced that this could be an unfair representation of each ward. Burke Scott asked if we could ask each council member to name a couple of landmarks that are significant in their ward and use that as inspiration for the artwork. Richard Garland asked, “what if every ward does not have something distinctive about it?” Rickey N. Oglesby, Jr., responded that he thinks that every ward has something distinctive about it.
