 F. AGR2025-049 Authorization for the approval of an Intergovernmental Agreement with 
the Cobb County School District for the Lease and Use of Facilities at Campbell 
Middle School and authorize the Mayor to sign and execute all related documents. 
Ward 1 Councilmember - Glenn Pickens 
 
Mayor Derek Norton provided the following background: 
  
He has been working with this item with Scott Cochran and Cobb County Schools. 
The 13-14 acres at the school is in need of reparation. He met with Superintendent 
Ragsdale to discuss a partnership to commit resources to help with maintaining it 
better. This is a 50-year lease from the City of Smyrna from the school district. Some 
possibilities for its use:   
• baseball 
• tennis 
• pickleball 
• 8-lane tract 
• adaptive field for special needs 
• adaptive playground 
 
Mike Jones, City Administrator, stated that for clarification it is 15.26 acres at CMS. 
The Board of Education will provide the demo. Preliminary plans will be ready by the 
end of the year.  
  
Councilmember Rickey N. Oglesby, Jr. said he is very excited about this 
development.  
 
Mayor Pro Tem Tim Gould said it is a wonderful piece of property with a lot of 
potential.   
 
Councilmember Susan Wilkinson asked about flag football. It will be recreational 
coed.  
 
Councilmember Glenn Pickens made a motion to approve item AGR2025-049; 
seconded by Councilmember Charles Welch.
