May 04, 2026 7:00 PM City of Smyrna Mayor and Council Meeting 2800 King Street SE Council Chambers Page 4 of 6 This is a request based on the need for city staff to install the newly purchased traffic bollards around the green space area in three different locations – two locations along King Street and one location on Village Green Circle. The requested length of the closure from May 11 – May 22 is based on the required design specifications from the manufacturer. Mayor Pro Tem / Councilmember Tim Gould made a motion to approve; seconded by Councilmember Glenn Pickens. The motion to approve carried with the following vote: Aye: 5 – Councilmember Pickens, Councilmember Hines, Councilmember Wilkinson, Mayor Pro Tem / Councilmember Gould, Councilmember Oglesby Nay: 0 – None Absent: 2 – Councilmember Lindley, Councilmember Welch C. ATH2026-058 Authorization to approve contract modifications to RFQ-26-014 previously awarded to C.W. Matthews Contracting CO. Inc. (1600 Kenview Drive, Marietta, GA. 30060) in a new amount not to exceed $5,061,274.45 to be paid from LMIG Funds & 2022 SPLOST- Resurfacing line item for the milling and overlay of city streets and authorize the Mayor to sign and execute all documents. Citywide Mike Jones, City Administrator, provided the following background: The contract modification is based on a request to add six additional city roads to be milled and overlayed due to additional funds acquired from FY 2026 LMIG supplemental funding from GDOT. While C.W. Matthews was previously awarded RFQ-26-014, they are still currently the city’s paving contractor. It will be beneficial to utilize their contract pricing to perform the additional work. The previous contract amount was $4,094,504.67. The additional amount is $966,769.78 bringing the new total to $5,061,274.45. Councilmember Rickey N. Oglesby Jr. made a motion to approve item ATH 2026-058; seconded by Councilmember Glenn Pickens. CNV2026-005 Authorization to approve City of Smyrna to Quit Claim Deed a segment of land that parallels the rear of the property of 1565 Roswell Street SE. The parcel segment to be deeded is that of an old alley way based on the recorded subdivision plat and authorize the Mayor to sign and execute all documents.
