May 04, 2026 7:00 PM City of Smyrna Mayor and Council Meeting 2800 King Street SE Council Chambers Page 6 of 6 Councilmember Latonia P. Hines attended the Jonquil Jog. It was an amazing event. She thanked all who organized it - Laura Norton, Stacey Scott, Patrick Tadeschi, and Jennifer Bennett. Councilmember Susan Wilkinson thanked all of the volunteers who participated in the Smyrna Garden Tour. She thanked the homeowners who were willing to do the work and show off their gardens. Mayor Pro Tem / Councilmember Tim Gould said two weekends ago, the Georgia Preservation Foundation held a Georgia Ramble. It is a tour of historic homes in the area. Smyrna also hosted an Education Town Hall with two Cobb County board members. Councilmember Rickey N. Oglesby, Jr. announced the 2nd Annual Juneteenth Festival on June 19 starting at 6:00 PM. He also mentioned that he will be visiting Woodland Brooks subdivision on Wednesday at 6:00 PM for a Q & A. He also encouraged Ward 7 citizens to vote early to minimize long waits. Heather Peacon-Corn, City Clerk, reminded all that early voting is taking place right now at Smyrna First Baptist Church, Monday – Friday from 7 a – 7 p. This Saturday will be the last Saturday to early vote at the church. Mr. Oglesby stepped down from the dais to speak as a citizen. He stated that exciting things are happening next Wednesday at his restaurant, the Indigo Room. The VP of the Grammy’s will be doing a Q&A session at 6:00 PM. There will be some Trump Administration folks in attendance as well. He announced that the Indigo Room will also be part of the 31 Days of Jazz. The Indigo Room is located at 821 Concord Road, Suite C. 13. Adjournment Mayor Derek Norton adjourned the May 4, 2026 Mayor and Council Meeting at 7:25 PM.
