Councilmember Susan Wilkinson thanked staff for wonderful Christmas Tree lighting. 
She mentioned the Hannukah celebration that happened tonight. She wished all a 
Merry Christmas, Happy Hannukah, and a Happy New Year.   
  
Mayor Pro Tem Tim Gould recognized the Veterans Committee and the wonderful 
staff member Bert Turnell and all the work he does. He reminded all to vote 
tomorrow for a new state senator. And he wished all a Happy Holidays.  
  
Councilmember Rickey N. Oglesby, Jr., wished all a Merry Christmas and Happy 
New Year. He will hold a Ward 7 town hall on January 13, 2026, at the Public Safety 
facility. He also mentioned his new jazz restaurant, the Indigo Room, had a 
successful soft opening. He will have a few more soft openings with wine tasting and 
a Sunday brunch.  
  
Mike L. Jones, City Administrator, stated that the Smyrna Veterans Committee could 
not have picked a better honoree in Bert Turnell because he is an amazing 
asset who serves this city tirelessly.   
  
Heather Peacon-Corn, City Clerk, stated that the election for senate district 35 is 
tomorrow from 7:00 am – 7:00 pm. Voters will vote at their assigned precinct. To find 
that information, access it through the My Voter Page.

Mayor Derek Norton adjourned the December 15, 2025 Mayor and Council Meeting at 8:05
