2. Call to Order
Mayor Derek Norton called to order the September 19, 2025 Downtown Development Authority
held at A. Max Bacon City Hall in the Admin Conference Room at 12:04 PM.

4. Formal Business
A. BCA2025-024 Approval of Appointment of Ryan “Rip” Duke to the Urban Design
Commission to serve the remainder of the current term expiring December 31, 2025.
Mr. Duke fills the vacancy created by the resignation of Mr. Chuck Young.
Mayor Norton explained that Chuck Young moved out of the city, so Ryan “Rip” Duke was
going to be replacing him on the Urban Design Commission. Ryan “Rip” Duke introduced
himself:
• Has been a resident of Smyrna since 2004
• Has two children at St. Benedict’s
• His wife is Alex who has an interior design company in Smyrna
• He has worked at Plateau Excavation and is the Senior VP of Construction
Committee Member Kevin Drawe made a motion to approve item BCA2025-024;
seconded by Committee Member Tarun Ganeriwal.
The motion to approve carried with the following vote:
