 A. 2024-104 Fire Department Station Location Analysis (CIP to SPLOST)

Brian Marcos, Fire Department Chief, provided the following information and background:

• This project of adding a fire station on the south end of the City started about three
years ago.
• Placed this on the CIP to earmark – originally $5-6M. Revised last year to $9M.
• Recent Cobb Fire Station built was $9M.
• Community Risk Assessment (CRA) data has been factored into this
recommendation.
• On the emergency services side, there has been a 5-6% call volume increase.
• Station 1 used to be the busiest, but Station 4 is now almost surpassing Station 1
in terms of call volume.
• As a temporary stopgap – three employees approved through the budget – more
reliability in terms of response.
• The recommendation based on the data is supporting a rebuilding of Station 4.
The project would be paid for through the 2028 SPLOST if approved.
• The new Station 4 would need to maximize the existing lot for a 3-bay station and
annex.
