Mayor Derek Norton called to order the July 21, 2025 Pre-Council Meeting held at A. Max Bacon
City Hall in the Admin Conference Room at 6:00 PM.

PRE2025-022 Review of the July 21, 2025 Mayor and Council Meeting Notice and Agenda
Mayor Norton introduced the Mayor of the Day, George Mixon, who is a rising 3rd grader at
Nickajack Elementary.
Mayor Norton reviewed the July 21, 2025 Mayor and Council Meeting Agenda.
ATH2025-123: Mayor Norton explained that the original amount of $12,775 for the four
community events was not enough to meet the needs of the events. The amended amount will
bring three events – Black History Month, Juneteenth, and Hispanic Heritage Month – up to
$20,000 per event with $7,000 being allocated to the Women’s History Month Tea. Anything
beyond those amounts will need to come from corporate or individual sponsorships which Mayor
Norton stated he would be happy to assist with.
