• Village Green bathroom will be functional during the Birthday Celebration. Plating will be 
placed over where the fountains are. Fencing will come down for the event and go back 
up on Monday.  
 
Councilmember Oglesby – Trust for Public Land officially started on the park by the river. Public 
art will be added. 
  
Councilmember Pickens – Rebuilding Together Atlanta helped a 94-year-old resident who is in 
rehab now and hoping to get back home. There was discussion about a Council project. 
  
Councilmember Hines – Live Safe Resources will be receiving the Domestic Violence 
Awareness proclamation, and they are holding a vigil on October 7 in the Marietta Square for 
those who have lost their lives to domestic violence. On October 9, the Support Smyrna Gala at 
the Reed House will take place. Powder Springs is having their open house Friday and Saturday 
at designated times. 
  
Councilmember Welch – Smyrna Historical Society will have an open house on Saturday, from 
10:00 AM – 2:00 PM at the Reed House and Taylor Brawner house.  
  
Paul Osburn, Deputy Director of Public Works, stated that they are finalizing the draft documents 
about the trash cans. He asked about the conversion from underground cans to roll carts. Mayor 
Norton said that the in-ground storage cannot have exterior cans because there is no place to 
store them.
