6:00 PM City of Smyrna Mayor and Council Meeting 2800 King Street SE Human Resources Training Room Page 5 of 5 Mayor Pro Tem Gould said they had an Education Town Hall last night with two school board members. Councilmember Wilkinson mentioned that the wife of a former employee reached out to see if a commemorative bench could be installed to honor him at Brawner Hall. Mike Jones stated that in order to dedicate something like that, the person needs to have a definitive connection to the City of Smyrna, and it needs to be sponsored by a council member. She also discussed the arboretum and how it was a way to get trees around Brawner, around the pond and downtown. She asked if it would be a good idea to do an arboretum on Windy Hill. It was recommended she speak to Julie Barwig and Russell Martin. Councilmember Welch stated he will not be present on Monday for the council meeting. Paul Osburn brought up the Mableton signs in the City of Smyrna’s rights-of-way. He is ready to remove the signs, but he wants to make sure Mayor and Council are okay with it. City Attorney Scott Cochran said it would be better to do so once someone has spoken to the elected officials of Mableton. Heather Peacon-Corn discussed Advanced Voting at the Baptist Church which will also be going during the Jonquil Jog with street closures. She has worked with staff and Cobb County Elections to ensure people are able to access the building to vote. 7. Executive Session (As Needed) 8.
