Call to Order Mayor Derek Norton called to order the July 13, 2026 Special Called Mayor and Council Meeting – Millage Rate Public Hear #1 held at A. Max Bacon City Hall in Council Chambers at 6:00 PM. 3. Formal Business A. Public Hearing #1 for the 2026 Millage rate; there will be no vote on this item. Citywide Mayor Norton stated that the City of Smyrna has maintained the same millage rate for the past 18 years, since 2008. Those who have filed a homestead exemption will not see a rate increase from the City of Smyrna. This is the first of three public hearings. Kristin Robinson, Deputy City Administrator / CFO, provided the following background: All required public notices were published in the Marietta Daily Journal on July 4 and 5, 2026, and again on July 11 and 12, 2026. A press release was sent to the Marietta Daily Journal on June 29, 2026, and the information is posted on the City’s website. As the Mayor stated, Smyrna is not raising the millage rate. This hearing is the first of the three required public hearings. The additional hearings take place at 8:30 AM on Monday, July 20, 2026, and at 7:00 PM on Monday, July 20, 2026.
