Agenda Title:
Public Hearing for the 2026 Millage rate; there will be no vote on this item.
Citywide
ISSUE AND BACKGROUND:
The FY27 budget approved by Council includes revenue projections for property taxes based
on a millage rate of 8.99 mills. This hearing is the second of three required public hearings
prior to the formal adoption of the 8.99 millage rate.
The City received the 2026 tax digest information from Cobb County on June 18, 2026. Based
on that data, the calculated rollback millage rate is 8.834 mills. Rolling back to 8.834 mills
allows the City to avoid advertising a tax increase. For comparison, last year’s rollback millage
rate was 8.936 mills.
All required public notices were published in the Marietta Daily Journal on July 4 and 5, 2026,
and were again published on July 11 and 12, 2026. A press release was sent to the Marietta
Daily Journal on June 29, 2026, and the information is posted on the City’s website.
This hearing is the second of the three required public hearings. The first public hearing was
held on Monday, July 13, 2026 at 6:00 PM. The third and final public hearing and adoption will
be at the July 20, 2026 Mayor and Council meeting at 7:00 PM.

RECOMMENDATION / REQUESTED ACTION:
This is the second Public Hearing for the 2026 Millage rate; there will be no vote on this item.
