Chairperson Oglesby mentioned the jonquil sculpture that will be placed in front of Zucca.
Though this was not a project that came through the committee, it will inevitably be tied to it, so
he wanted all to be aware of it. It is currently in the design phase.

Chairperson Oglesby also announced to the committee that their annual budget increased which
tells him that the Mayor and Council like what this committee is doing. Last year’s projects were
low hanging fruit. He is excited to see what bigger projects can be done.

Committee Member Thomas spoke about the Juneteenth community art project. She thought it
was a great idea for other events happening in the city. Discussion took place about feasibility
and placement of completed community art projects. Anna Talarico said that she has a meeting
scheduled next week to talk about this very idea with her team. There is a possibility that funds
can be used from Designing Local to contract with an artist that can organize a community art
project at events. More will be discussed at a future meeting.
