12.  Ward and Staff Reports 
 
Councilmember Latonia P. Hines thanked public safety. Fire had the Golden Helmet 
recognition, and Police had to deal with a very difficult child abuse case.  
  
Councilmember Travis Lindley announced the reminder that there will be a park dedication 
for the late Dr. David Martin on Sunday, April 26, 2026, at 12:30 PM.  
  
Mayor Pro Tem Tim Gound thanked all those who came out to support the Campbell 
Education Foundation at the 28th Annual Susan T. Pearson Golf Tournament. On 
Wednesday, April 29, 2026, Smyrna will host the Smyrna Education Town Hall featuring 
Cobb County Board of Education representatives Becky Sayler, Post 2, and Nichelle 
Davis, Post 6, at the Community Center.  
  
Councilmember Rickey N. Oglesby, Jr. noted that ward 7 voters have a temporary voting 
location at the Indian Cultural Center.  
  
Heather Peacon-Corn, City Clerk, stated that advanced voting is being held April 27 – May 
15, 2026, at Smyrna First Baptist Church in their Fellowship Hall, Monday – Friday 7:00 
AM – 7:00 PM, and Saturday 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM. This location does not have Sunday 
voting, nor does it have a drop box; however, there are several locations nearby that do 
have Sunday voting and a drop box. This information can be accessed on the City of 
Smyrna website and the Cobb County Elections website. There are paper copies posted 
and available at City Hall as well. On Tuesday, May 19, 2026, you will need to vote at your 
assigned voting precinct. That information can be found at mvp.sos.ga.gov.
