6. Other Business / Staff Comment 
 
Committee Member Imani Thomas said she enjoys seeing public art as she drives around the 
city. The two newest committee members said the art looks great and they are very grateful and 
excited to be here. Community Services Administrator Richard Garland mentioned the Smyrna 
Arts Council indoor artwork in city facilities and that he would like to include digital images of that 
artwork in a digital queue for further circulation. Chairperson Oglesby said art has many forms 
such as dance, music, etc., and this year he would like to expand the art that is produced in the 
city as the committee enters the new year. Richard Garland mentioned this year is America’s 
250th Independence Day and asked the committee if a public art project should reflect this 
celebration. Chairperson Oglesby said that it is something the committee is very interested in, 
and he would like to see this topic as an agenda item at the next meeting. Chairperson 
Oglesby officially welcomed Carson Haynie back from maternity leave and thanked Evie Ramsey 
for filling in during her absence. Chairperson Oglesby thanked Deputy City Administrator Kristin 
Robinson for attending the meeting and providing budgetary input.

The January 23, 2026, Smyrna Public Art Committee held at A. Max Bacon City Hall in the HR
