WATER ADMINISTRATION
Function
The Water Administration Department is dedicated to the billing and collection of water, sewer, and
sanitation monthly charges. Currently, our customer service staff efficiently manages over 16,000 active
accounts. The office staff oversees billing, collections, applications for new accounts, completion of work
orders for service connections and disconnections, as well as meter repair and reading checks. Their
responsibilities also encompass handling customer complaints, receiving phone calls, and data entry
tasks.
The meter services staff within the division is tasked with meter reading, repairs, connection and
disconnection of services, meter checks, meter testing, and water quality checks.
Active delinquent account collections are addressed monthly, while inactive collections are part of an
ongoing procedure outlined by City ordinance.
Major Goals & Objectives:
• Continue the ongoing program of meter repair and replacement to ensure accurate billings and
increase revenue.
• Seamlessly integrate new water boundary service areas into current operations as new
properties are annexed into the City.
• Explore and implement new programs that generate additional revenue to assist with cost
containment.
• Maintain the provision of clean, safe drinking water that meets or exceeds federal and state
quality standards.
Performance Measures:
• Identify any water meters not currently recognized in our system.
• Track and repair water leaks to lower unaccounted water volume.
• Continue the residential meter dial replacement program to upgrade equipment.
• Lower the monthly ratio of water purchased to water sold to less than fifteen percent.
We are committed to achieving these goals and continually improving our services to meet the needs of
our community.
