FIRE ADMINISTRATION
Function
The Fire Chief, appointed by and accountable to the Mayor and City Council, serves as the highest-ranking
officer within the organization. The Fire Chief is responsible for aligning department functions with the
city’s vision by developing a strategy to accomplish the objective. The Office of the Fire Chief is responsible
for developing an annual budget, implementing the strategic plan and ensuring c ompliance with
applicable laws and s tandards. The Deputy Chief of Administ rative Services and Deputy Chief of
Emergency Services serve under the direction of the Fire Chief and share responsibility for managing the
day-to-day administrative functions of the department as well as interacting with other internal and
external stakeholders. The Deputy Fire Chiefs also act on behalf of the Fire Chief in his/her absence.
Major Goals & Objectives (FY 2026)
1. Effectively and formally communicate the major goals and objectives outlined in our
strategic plan.
2. Ensure that administrative positions are aligned to optimize service delivery.
3. Evaluate and execute on the three focus areas for our department:
• Lead: Health and Wellness, Community Risk Reduction, and Personnel Development
• Develop: Optimize Staffing, Financial Sustainability, Emergency Preparedness,
Employee Engagement, and Community Partnerships
• Achieve: Fleet and Facility Maintenance, Operational Effectiveness, and Agency

4. Effectively execute and manage the adopted budget for all divisions in FY 2026.
