No subject may be acted upon by the City Council unless that subject is on the agenda and is scheduled for action. If you wish to be heard, please sign up with the City Clerk, come to the podium when called by the Mayor, state your name and address for the record and make your remarks. The time allotted for each speaker is as follows: Public Comment - Three (3) Minutes 11. Public Comment 12. Ward and Staff Reports Mayor Derek Norton mentioned the 250 flags that were installed on the Veterans Memorial. He thanked Scout troop 220 for helping plant the majority of those flags on that very hot day. Councilmember Latonia P. Hines said the Brush & Box event was wonderful. She also mentioned some members of council participated in the Georgia Municipal Association Conference. Councilmember Travis Lindley thanked staff for all of their hard work with so much that has been going on in the city. He congratulated Councilmember Charles Welch on his retirement. And he announced that his godson was visiting from TL – Thanks to staff. So much going on. Congratulate Corkey on his retirement. godson from Tennessee who is a rising second year law student. Councilmember Charles Welch thanked Councilmember Lindley. Councilmember Susan Wilkinson also congratulated Councilmember Welch on his retirement. She thanked staff for their hard work during concerts and events downtown. And she thanked the courts who planted the flags. Mayor Pro Tem / Councilmember Tim Gould stated that tomorrow night is Forest Hills Night at StillFire at 6:00 PM. Tuesday, July 28, 2026, the Smyrna area middle school principals will be out at Food Truck Tuesday to have a meet and greet. He thanked Parks & Rec for all the amazing activities this summer. Councilmember Rickey N. Oglesby, Jr stated that at last year’s Juneteenth, approximately 5,500 attended. This year, the number rose to approximately 8,800 attendees. He is so humbled and proud. He thanked all the city staff that helped make it possible. He also mentioned that Cobb County and City of Smyrna students are going back to school soon. He wished them a great year. 13.
