We Asked 150 Smyrna Residents...
What do you like/enjoy about the preferred concept?
• The concept enhances walkability and pedestrian experience, making
downtown more accessible and better connected.
• The Jonquil Mile and new green spaces with landscaping make downtown feel
more inviting and welcoming for pedestrians.
• There is strong support for the plazas and open spaces for events and social
interaction.
• The concept promotes mixed-use development, integrating retail, dining,
and residential spaces for a vibrant downtown.
• The food hub, event center, and hotel are seen as key community draws.
• The inclusion of diverse uses will attract more people and businesses, making
downtown a destination across the region.
• There is strong support for the Chapel addition, which integrate a modern
and functional space with the historic qualities of the original building.
How can we change or improve the preferred concept?
• Desire for less high density residential with preference for other uses like offices.
• Concerns over volume of traffic on the new planned streets.
• The hotel should be mixed use with retail so it supports the goals of the plan.
• Requests to increase green/open space in the plan and less buildings.
• Parking accessibility and location in this concept plan have caused some concern.
On average, people ranked the preferred concept at 7.3 out of 10.
