it was industrial when she bought but did not think that there would be additional
industry added when there are homes in the area.
• Brittney Benzio- 6366 Apalachee Way- in opposition; for this community, it’s not
close of business - it’s something that will affect them throughout their lives.
• Tina Gawri- 1532 Purple Coneflower Ave- in opposition; they are a strong
community and will not give up. This has been a constant battle. The area has not
gotten the attention that it deserves over time.
• Vladamir Vujic- 1818 Tristan Dr- in opposition; people are afraid of pollution, and
we can prevent pollution; technologies today should allow them to prevent
pollution; they should prove that there is no pollution but will cost more
money.
• Amanda Meeks- 1520 Purple Coneflower Ave- in opposition
• Martina Jones- 6042 Liatris St- in opposition; she had experienced environmental
issues and moved to Smyrna but would have to move if this were approved

Chairperson Powell closed the public hearing at 6:40 PM.

Board Member Howard stated that when Riverview was annexed, it was almost entirely
industrial. This situation was created before the neighborhoods were built.

Board Member Phillips asked Mr. Staubes to clarify if the storage of garbage trucks and
the installation of a fuel tank was something for this board to decide or if this was for the
State Fire Marshal to decide. Mr. Staubes said that the use of storing garbage trucks is
allowed by right and that the fuel tank is through the State Fire Marshal. Mr. Phillips
clarified that if the structure were permanent, they would not even have to come before
the board, but because it is temporary, that requires the special land use. Mr. Staubes
confirmed.

Board Member Ostrzega said that she understands where they are coming from, but that
property was zoned HI from the beginning, and unfortunately, the zoning cannot be
changed, so it is not a zoning issue. She is assuming that they did their due diligence and
knew that it was HI before moving in.
