• September 18 – Faith Leaders Roundtable.
• State of the City will be held on September 30 which will include updates on
several projects throughout the city.
• The annual Birthday Celebration will be held on October 4 with Kool & the Gang
and Fitz and the Tantrums. The Culture & Spirit Festival will be all day.
6. Proclamations and Presentations
A. PRC2025-028 Proclamation in recognition of Constitution Week, September 17-23,
2025
Citywide
Mayor Derek Norton stated that the the Fielding Lewis Chapter, National Society
Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR), members are here with us this
evening in support of the objectives of Constitution Week, celebrated each year from
September 17-23 to commemorate the history of, importance of, and to bring attention
to the Constitution. This celebration was started by the Daughters of the American
Revolution (often referred to as DAR, which is NSDAR).
Fielding Lewis Chapter members with us this evening are:

A PROCLAMATION
By the Mayor of the City of Smyrna
In Recognition of Constitution Week
September 17 – 23, 2025
Whereas: The Constitution of the United States of America, the guardian of our
liberties, embodies the principles of limited government in a Republic dedicated to rule
by law; and
Whereas: September 17, 2025, marks the two hundred and thirty-eighth anniversary
of the framing of the Constitution of the United States of America by the Constitutional
Convention; and
Whereas: It is fitting and proper to accord official recognition to this magnificent
document and its memorable anniversary, and to the patriotic celebrations which will
commemorate it; and
Whereas: Public Law 915 guarantees the issuing of a proclamation each year by the
President of the United States of America designating September 17 through 23 as
Constitution Week; NOW
