Concord Road and Old Concord Road Safe Streets & Roads for All (SS4A) Grant • Federal grant program with $5 billion in appropriated funds over 5 years (2022 – 2026) • Initiatives to prevent roadway fatalities and serious injuries • Guided by Safe System Approach • Improve safety culture o Increase collaboration across safety stakeholders o Refocus transportation system design and operation on anticipating human mistakes o Lessening impact forces o Improve crash response to reduce secondary crashes o Enhance survivability o Improve fatal and serious injury crash outcomes • Comprehensive Safety Action Plan o Plan for reducing and eliminating serious-injury and fatal crashes affecting all roadway users o Analysis of data to characterize roadway safety problems and address community’s most significant safety risks o Identifies projects for Implementation Grant applications • Applied for $300,000 • 20% local match • Grant application submitted May 26 • Receive funding within 12 months Traffic Calming Concord Road / Old Concord Road Looking at additional measures – chicanes or more center medians. This is still in the concept phase. Spring Street Looking at pedestrian crossings. Not all the neighbors are on board with speed humps. Village Parkway Traffic Calming Speeding is a major concern. Considering narrowing the lanes by about one foot. It would be similar to what has been done on Concord Road. They are about a month away from doing the striping project. If it goes over well, then they would bid out the work for the concrete medians. Legion Drive • Pedestrian Improvements o RRFB Crossing o Sidewalks connecting to Dunn Street • Traffic Calming o Speed Humps (2) o Signage
