Kyle May explained that as people are surveyed and provide feedback, they will be asked what their relationship to Smyrna is. Those metrics will be important when finalizing the data. Mayor Pro Tem Tim Gould opened the public hearing. John Saunders, 2446 Reed Street, expressed what he would like to see in the Comprehensive Plan and submitted a proposal to the City Clerk, Mayor Pro Tem and Council, and to Community Development. In summary: Goals • Vastly improve affordability in Smyrna, especially near downtown. • Ensure that the shops, restaurants, and offices in the new downtown have critical mass of patrons in walking distance. • Grow the tax digest to ensure financial support to Smyrna’s great plans. • Codify what we love about Smyrna’s character to protect and enhance it.
