On Saturday morning, a dozen history enthusiasts joined a new tour of the Smyrna Memorial Cemetery. The tour featured eight cemetery residents whose stories fit the Halloween theme of the macabre and spooky, including Mr. Joe Chaney (1875-1954) who – believe it or not – is buried in two Smyrna cemeteries! O C T O B E R 2 0 - O C T O B E R 2 4 P A G E 0 5 LIBRARY AND MUSEUM Last Tuesday, Cathi Perry, great-niece of renowned local artist Nellie Mae Rowe, visited the Smyrna Museum. Museum Manager Jennie Eldredge and Library Director Mary Moore shared an original Rowe piece from the museum’s collection titled Brother and Sister (1980). Ms. Perry, who serves as President of the Judith Alexander Foundation, also discussed an upcoming Nellie Mae Rowe exhibit that will debut at the Smyrna Museum in August 2026.
