public tour of the Smyrna Recycling Center. Held on the third Friday of the month at 9:00 a.m. (excluding holidays and a winter break), the hour-long tour shows what happens to materials after drop-off and how to recycle more effectively. Afterward, we welcomed a class from the invasive English ivy, kudzu, and wisteria, the team planted six native American beautyberry shrubs. Beautyberry provides an important food source for native birds and other wildlife. HABITAT REHABILITATION Fifteen Adopt-a-Mile groups hit the streets of Smyrna this past Saturday to clean up their adopted roadways. Through quarterly efforts, volunteers remove thousands of pounds of litter each year while raising awareness about the impact of litter and helping keep our community clean.
