October 06, 2025 6:30 PM City of Smyrna Mayor and Council Meeting 2800 King Street SE Council Chambers Page 2 of 2 John Knop, Oakbridge Insurance, reviewed the updated numbers for the 2026 health, vision, dental, and life insurance claims and premiums. He explained that there will be a slight increase of 6% in premiums for employees after no increases for the past four years. Basic Life has been the most affected, and they recommend a renewal option that reduces the increase on the Basic Life to 4%. The optional plan would add a 35% reduction at age 65 and a 50% reduction at age 70 to the retiree class (this would include current and future retirees). Councilmember Hines thanked all departments for this past weekend’s event. She also recognized Public Safety and Community Development. Councilmember Pickens mentioned at their joint ward meeting that a resident would like to request a road dedication for her daughter who passed away from cancer. The city has already had a tree dedication last year. 5. Executive Session (As Needed) 6. Adjournment Mayor Derek Norton adjourned the October 6, 2025 Pre-Council Meeting at 6:52 PM.
