ATH2026-052 Authorization to reclassify (change title) of the Fire Hydrant Inspector (Non-Exempt) to a Operations Support Program Manager (Non-Exempt) while maintaining the pay grade of GOVT-5. Citywide Mike Jones, City Administrator, provided the following background: The Fire Department is proposing the reclassification (title change) of the existing Fire Hydrant Inspector position to Operations Support Program Manager to reflect a substantial expansion in scope, responsibility, and organizational impact. This expanded role requires broader organizational knowledge, increased independent judgment, and regular coordination with multiple divisions and external partners and it consolidates multiple operational support and compliance-driven programs under a single accountable administrator, supporting department readiness, efficiency, and continuity. The budget impact reflects a savings of $11,858 following the recent retirement of the Hydrant Inspector. Councilmember Latonia P. Hines made a motion to approve item ATH2026-052; seconded by Councilmember Susan Wilkinson. The motion to approve carried with the following vote: Aye: 5 – Councilmember Pickens, Councilmember Hines, Councilmember Wilkinson, Mayor Pro Tem / Councilmember Gould, Councilmember Oglesby Nay: 0 – None Absent: 2 – Councilmember Lindley, Councilmember Welch B. ATH2026-056 Authorization to approve the request to close King Street at Bank Street to Powder Springs Street from May 11 to May 22, 2026, for the installation of newly purchased traffic bollards around the green space area at three locations, and to authorize the Mayor to sign and execute all related documents.
