thanked Scott Cochran, City Attorney, for his poignant words from the last council 
meeting about the long list of good, successful, ongoing and completed projects in 
the city. 
  
Councilmember Charles Welch – announced he will not be in attendance at the next 
Committee of the Whole meeting on April 16, 2026. Keep Smyrna Beautiful has a 
volunteer day coming up for clean up. 
  
Councilmember Susan Wilkinson – spoke about the amazing accomplishments of 
the resident in her ward who was honored at the Women’s History Luncheon.  
  
Mayor Pro Tem / Councilmember Tim Gould – announced two upcoming events: 
April 20th is the 28th Annual Susan T. Pearson Memorial Golf Tournament. May 
2nd is the Jonquil Jog with funds going toward Support Smyrna and the Campbell 
High School Education Foundation. 
  
Councilmember Rickey N. Oglesby, Jr. – Juneteenth Festival is in the planning 
phase now. The Soul Cartel Band will be headlining.  
  
Mayor Derek Norton – the River Line Splash pad and the water feature in downtown 
will be open May 1. And Smyrna was approved as an official FIFA World Cup watch 
site which means most, if not all, World Cup games will be shown in Smyrna.
