roads for the Smyrna Market. Richard Garland reminded council that these are the same
road closures that have occurred the last 3-4 years. There are sone Sundays that King
Street is closed to accommodate more vendors, but it does not occur every Sunday during
the Smyrna Market. Discussion took place about signage and needing it as soon as
possible and not understanding why it has not already been done.

6. Other Business / Staff Comment

Councilmember Oglesby – The official flyer for the Juneteenth celebration will be out tomorrow
as well as the sponsorship layout. Also, the fire hydrants will be painted Mother’s Day weekend.

Councilmember Pickens – The Jonquil Jog was a great success. He also spoke about the
shooting in his ward Sunday. He was not notified about it until late last night. He was first
informed by the HOA rather than the city. He asked that if something like this occurs in their
wards to please notify that council member and Mayor at least.

Councilmember Lindley – He and Councilmember Hines assisted with the Legal Pop-up Clinic
this past weekend. They talked about holding a Mental Health Resource fair next year. He
mentioned the presentation from the Committee of the Whole updating the council about the
projects around the city. He asked that that presentation be placed on the city website because it
highlights important successes around the city. He expressed frustration that, though it was
placed on the website, it is not found easily. He also mentioned that a “Coming Soon” button was
to be placed on the homepage of the website, and that, too, is not easy to find. He does not like
that constituents are having to “hunt” for these items, especially those items that are showing city
successes.

Councilmember Hines – Echoing Councilmember Lindley’s frustration, she wondered why when
members of the elected body make a request, it does not get done – signage, website
alterations, etc. She also mentioned the successful Garden Tour from this past weekend.

Discussion took place about council member parking spaces and people parking in them. It was
mentioned maybe license plates need to be run to determine who is parking is those spots.

7. Executive Session (As Needed)

8. Adjournment

Mayor Pro Tem Tim Gould adjourned the May 5, 2025 Pre-Council meeting at 6:57 PM.
