5.  Mayoral Report 
 
 A. Recognition of Smyrna Little League 8U Blue 2025 State Champions 
Citywide 
 
Mayor Derek Norton thanked those who attended the State of the City address this 
past Tuesday. It is available to watch online. The Birthday Celebration was 
successful and well attended with 25K – 35K people in attendance. Special thanks 
to Jennifer Bennett, Parks & Recreation staff, Public Safety, Public Works, etc. The 
Hispanic Heritage Celebration was heavily attended with new vendors. And this 
afternoon, he attended the Cobb Chamber’s Public Safety Appreciation and 
Luncheon where several members of the Smyrna team were honored.   
 
Mayor Derek Norton made a special recognition for the second consecutive year the 
Smyrna Little League 8U State Champions. This is only the second team in history to 
go back-to-back. 
 
Coaches: Mike Lowe, Alan Nix, Scott Phelan, Marquis Fuller 
Players: Jack Norton, Palmer Han, Mills Kalin, Shep Lowe, Tate Nix, Jude Phelan, 
Rueben Randle, AJ Gordon, Maddox Holden, Lawson Barnes, Zayne Fuller, Logan 
Harris 
  
Coach Mike Lowe stated that the support from the community makes their jobs easier. 
The whole journey started mid-August of 2024. Out of 130 kids, these 12 were 
selected by their coaches to represent the 8U Smyrna Little League.
