dedicated to building a community free from domestic violence, sexual assault and 
elder abuse; and,  
Whereas: organizations across Georgia are working to end domestic violence and 
provide the support survivors need to find their voice, while law enforcement remains 
committed to ensuring justice is served to individuals who harm those who trust them; 
Now,  
Therefore: I, Derek Norton, Mayor of the City of Smyrna, Georgia, do hereby proclaim 
October 2025 as DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AWARENESS MONTH and urge all citizens 
to observe this month by becoming aware of the tragedy of domestic violence, 
supporting those who are working toward its end, and participating in community 
efforts.  
  
Lisa Mello, Exec. Director of Live Safe Resources, stated they have officially opened 
the pet shelter. In Cobb County alone they have helped over 2,000 people in 2024. 
And in the State of Georgia, they have helped over 3,600 people in 2024. Tomorrow 
night at Marietta Square in Glover Park for their annual Domestic Violence vigil. They 
will also have their Que & Brew event off the square.

 A. Z25-007 Public Hearing - Zoning Request - Z25-007 - Allow rezoning from OI to MU-
Conditional for a mixed-use development with 250 multi-family units and 2,500 sq. ft. 
of retail - 6.73 acres - Land Lot 681 & 688 - 0 Highlands Pkwy - WP South 
Acquisitions LLC. 
This item is to be tabled to the October 20, 2025 Mayor and Council meeting at the 
request of the applicant. 
Ward 7 Councilmember - Rickey N. Oglesby Jr. 
 
Councilmember Rickey N. Oglesby, Jr. made a motion to table item Z25-007 to the 
October 20, 2025 Mayor and Council meeting at the request of the applicant; seconded 
by Councilmember Charles Welch. 
 
The motion to table carried with the following vote:

 B. Z25-010 Public Hearing – Zoning Amendment – Z25-010 – Allow revisions to the 
currently approved site plan, elevations, and zoning conditions for a 3,605 sq. ft. bank 
– Land Lot 559 – 0.65 acres – LGE Community Credit Union – 0 & 2934 Atlanta Road 
Ward 3 Councilmember - Travis Lindley 
 
Russell Martin, Community Development Director, provided the following background: 
  
LGE Community Credit Union is requesting a zoning amendment of Z22-014 for 2934 
& 0 Atlanta Road to amend the site plan, elevations, and zoning conditions for the 
development of a 3,605 sq. ft., credit union with 25 surface level parking spaces. 
Being within the Urban Design District approval is required by the Urban Design 
Commission. On September 19, 2025, the Urban Design Commission voted to 
approve the application.
