Citywide ISSUE AND BACKGROUND: The Fire Department is proposing the reclassification (title change) of the existing Fire Hydrant Inspector position to Operations Support Program Manager to reflect a substantial expansion in scope, responsibility, and organizational impact. This expanded role requires broader organizational knowledge, increased independent judgment, and regular coordination with multiple divisions and external partners and it consolidates multiple operational support and compliance-driven programs under a single accountable administrator, supporting department readiness, efficiency, and continuity. The budget impact reflects a savings of $11,858 following the recent retirement of the Hydrant Inspector. RECOMMENDATION / REQUESTED ACTION: Staff recommends authorization to approve the reclassification of the Fire Hydrant Inspector to Operations Support Program Manager.
