from 10:00am to 4:00pm for our Black History Month Kids Pop-Up Craft Event. Kids ages 3 and up will learn about black food inventors and pioneers and enjoy a related craft. KIDS POP-UP CRAFT EVENT Last Thursday, 33 parents and children visited the Smyrna Museum for a homeschool tour. The group enjoyed a special tour focused on Smyrna’s history during the Industrial Revolution, World War I, and World War II. Smyrna played a role in many national trends of technological change during this period, including the railroad, streetcar, and the Bell Bomber Plant. Students explored hands-on interactives and were even shown special items from the archives, such as Dr. Mitchell’s ration booklet. During World War II, all Smyrna residents received booklets with stamps or tokens to purchase rationed goods. The stamps in Dr. Mitchell’s booklet were for gasoline, and as a local doctor, he was issued more gas stamps than the average citizen.
