Most speed humps are installed on 25 mph roads. The city has installed them on 35 mph roads, but that is not typical. He asked if they want to consider speed humps in 35 mph zones normally. He did explain that it is not supported by literature to do so. The question of radar use was brought forward. Radar requires 500 feet of visibility. C. 2025-349 Requests & Identified Issues: STOP Sign Compliance • Ridge Road/Cedar Cliff Drive • Roswell Street/Windy Hill Place • Gann Road • Wisteria Lane (Crestview neighborhood) • Kennesaw Drive/Old Spring Road • Hamby Street/Bank Street/Powder Springs Street • Spring Street Mark Wolff explained that many measures have been taken to alert people to the stop signs that have been installed or have been in place for years. They have completed refresher measures like repainting the bars on the road, painting the STOP in front of the bars, installing larger stop signs, etc. There are 12 or more locations with flashing beacons along the wires, some have the flashing beacons installed on top of the signs, and one has the red lights along the perimeter. The flashing beacon installed on top of the signs are the most cost effective at approximately $200 each. Any monies spent on traffic calming comes out of the traffic calming fund. Committee Member / Mayor Pro Tem Tim Gould made a motion to approve item 2025- 349 to place flashing beacons on top of the stop signs at the seven intersections listed (on the primary roadway; at least two lights per intersection); seconded by Committee Member / Councilmember Susan Wilkinson.
