PARKS AND RECREATION Registration is now open for Smyrna’s Girl’s Night Out! Gather your girlfriends and enjoy an evening of fun on November 13 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. The first 75 women (21+) to register will receive a swag bag filled with coupons, Parks & Recreation goodies, and a complimentary wine tumbler and tote bag. GIRL’S NIGHT OUT ENVIRONMENTAL SERVICES In October, the Smyrna Recycling Center shipped out: 45,000 pounds of glass 38,294 pounds of cardboard 16,406 pounds of mixed paper 12,400 pounds of mixed metal 4,290 pounds of electronics 3,948 pounds of #1 plastic 1,888 pounds of office paper 1,640 pounds of aluminum 1,600 pounds of books 1,580 pounds of #2 natural plastic 1,500 pounds of #2 colored plastic 1,502 pounds of hard-to-recycle plastics 1,408 pounds of paint 60 pounds of reusable clothing OCTOBER RECYCLING ROUND UP: Last week, Keep Smyrna Beautiful presented to a group K2 grade at St. John the Baptist hybrid school. We talked about what happens when you throw something “away” and discussed the difference between a trash (landfill), compost, and recycling.
