Ward and Staff Reports Councilmember Latonia P. Hines reminded all about the Black History Month program in February 28. The tickets are on sale right now. Thanks to Councilmember Oglesby for entertainment for Whitfield Academy. She also recognized Cobb Collaborative and Resiliency Week. Irene Barton from Cobb Collaborative stated this is the 2nd annual Resiliency Week anchored in Smyrna. Several events will take place in and around Smyrna. The purpose of the program is to promote awareness for mental well being for all ages. Mayor Pro Tem / Councilmember Tim Gould reminded all that early voting is underway for Cobb County Commissioner race for Districts 2 and 4. The primary is February 11, 2025. Councilmember Rickey N. Oglesby, Jr. reiterated the civic duty of voting and to get out to vote. He also announced that there is an RFQ out for the Smyrna ARTery with project goal to decorate 15 fire hydrants throughout the city. He mentioned that he is excited about Black History Month and is glad that Smyrna still recognizes black history as American history. III. CITIZEN PARTICIPATION Public comment during this portion of the agenda must be limited to matters within the jurisdiction of the City Council. No subject may be acted upon by the City Council unless that subject is on the agenda and is scheduled for action.
