Citywide ISSUE AND BACKGROUND: The Police Department’s Public Safety Systems Administrator position is currently vacant, transferring its responsibilities to the IT Department. This reclassification request seeks to establish a team of system administrators within IT to oversee all of the city’s major software systems. Creating a dedicated team will enhance cross-training opportunities and provide additional support for police, fire, and citywide operations. This request will reclassify the Public Safety Systems Administrator (Non-Exempt) to a System Administrator (Exempt) while maintaining the pay grade of GOVT-12. Additionally, it will formally transfer the position from the Police Department to the IT Department. RECOMMENDATION / REQUESTED ACTION: IT, Police, Finance, and HR recommends approval of the reclassification of the Public Safety Systems Administrator position to System Administrator and transfer the role from the Police Department to the Information Technology Department.
