Jackson Carlisle, 10 years old, was the winner of the “Mayor for the Day Experience” 
offered at this year’s Support Smyrna fundraising gala. Jackson’s parents, Scott & 
Kirsten Carlisle, are the owners of Smyrna Prep in the Market Village. In addition to 
participating in the city council meeting, Jackson and his parents also enjoyed:  
 
• Tour of the Mayor’s office & City Hall, 
• Lunch with the Mayor in the Smyrna Market Village, 
• Tours of the Smyrna Police Dept and Smyrna Fire Dept

6.  Proclamations and Presentations 
 
 A. 25-7706 Recognition from the Smyrna Veterans Committee 
Ward 6 Mayor Pro Tem / Councilmember - Tim Gould 
 
Mayor Pro Tem Tim Gould stated that the Veterans Committee does an outstanding 
job of recognizing citizens. He asked those representing the Smyrna Veterans 
Committee to come forward.  
  
Maher M. Abed, Post Commander 
Ramona McCary, Chaplain, American Legion Auxiliary, Post 160 
George Boyd, retired lawyer and service member 
  
Maher M. Abed recognized supervisor Bert Turnell in the Parks & Recreation 
Department for his continued service and support above and beyond the call of duty. 
Romona McCary stated that if you want something done in the City of Smyrna, you 
call Bert.  
 
7.  Community Development Items 
 
 A. Z25-014 Public Hearing - Zoning Request - Z25-014 - Allow rezoning from GC to 
RHR-PD for an age restricted multi-family development with 53 units at a density of 41 
units per acre for ages 62 and up - A land use change from MODR to HDR is also 
requested – Land Lot 519 - 1.3 acres - 1185 Belmont Avenue - VG Cairn Point 
Smyrna, LP  
The applicant requests to withdraw the application without prejudice 
Ward 3 Councilmember - Travis Lindley 
 
Councilmember Travis Lindley made a motion to withdraw without prejudice at the 
request of the applicant item Z25-014; seconded by Councilmember Glenn Pickens. 
 
The motion to withdraw carried with the following vote: 
 
Aye: 6 –  Councilmember Pickens, Councilmember Hines (virtual), 
Councilmember Lindley, Councilmember Wilkinson, Mayor Pro Tem / 
Councilmember Gould, Councilmember Oglesby 
Nay: 0 –  None 
Absent: 1 –  Councilmember Welch
