Richard Garland asked the committee if this is a project that they would like to be involved in. Committee Member Burke Scott asked if this is a KSB project or city project. Deputy City Administrator Kristin Robinson said there is not currently an approved budget for the pollinator garden. Kristin Robinson said public art would have some sort of involvement, but the $4-500,000 for the entire project would not be coming from the public art fund. Community Services Director Richard Garland said multiple entities will be coming together to pay for the entire project. Special Projects Manager Carson Haynie said Environmental Services Director Julie Barwig will have more insight into this at the next meeting. Committee Member Robert Harrison said the project is important because Linear Park has always needed an identity and the pollinator garden will bring it to life. Chairperson Oglesby said the committee would absolutely want to be part of this project. The committee agreed. 5. Approval of Minutes A. MIN2026-024 Approval of the January 23, 2026 Smyrna Public Art Committee Meeting Minutes Councilmember Burke Scott made a motion to approve; seconded by Councilmember Robert Harrison. The motion to approve carried with the following vote: Aye: 7 – City Council Liaison Oglesby Jr., Committee Member Barnes, Committee Member Foote, Committee Member Harrison, Committee Member Quigley, Committee Member Scott, Committee Member Thomas Nay: 0 – None Recuse: 0 – None 6. Other Business / Staff Comment Community Services Director Richard Garland said the Parks and Recreation Department will be doing a 250-piece flag display in the 20th Century Veterans Memorial lawn on July 1. Richard Galand said if anyone would like to come and plant a flag they should be on the lookout for more information. Richard Garland also mentioned that Boy and Girl Scouts of America will be involved. 7. Adjournment The February 27, 2026, Smyrna Public Art Committee meeting held at A. Max Bacon City Hall in the Admin Conference Room, which was adjourned at 1:12 PM.
