All required public notices were published in the Marietta Daily Journal on July 4, and 5, 
2026, and were again published on July 11 and 12, 2026. A press release was sent the 
Marietta Daily Journal on June 29, 2026, and the information is posted on the City’s 
website. 
  
This hearing is the second on the three required public hearing. The first public hearing 
was held on Monday, July 13, 2026 at 6:00 PM. The third and final public hearing and 
adoption will be at the July 20, 2026 Mayor and Council meeting at 7:00 PM. 
  
Mayor Derek Norton reiterated that homesteaded properties will not have a property tax 
increase from the City of Smyrna because those are locked in at the time the homestead 
exemption was filed.  
  
The public hearing was closed at 8:32 AM.
