Citywide ISSUE AND BACKGROUND: This amendment incorporates standard requirements for processing applications for Precious Metals Dealers certificates as well as hearings on the application and appeals for application denials. It also specifies the procedure required for suspension and revocation of Precious Metals Dealers certificates. This amendment also requires Precious Metal Dealers to hold purchased items for at least 7 days, which is the time required by state law. RECOMMENDATION / REQUESTED ACTION: Staff recommends approval of ORD2026-001 for a Code Amendment to Chapter 22 - Businesses, Article V, of the Smyrna Code of Ordinances, Precious Metals Dealers, Section 22- 201 regarding the requirements for processing applications for Precious Metals Dealers certificates, hearings on the application and appeals for application denials, Section 22-207 regarding suspension and revocation of Precious Metals Dealers certificates, Section 22- 188, regarding unlawful activities, and other provisions and authorize the Mayor to sign and execute all related documents.
