He thinks that it is a bit out of her usual scope. Robert Harrison stated that this particular design is his favorite and thinks that the committee should allow the artist to take the risk despite Charles Rhome’s concerns with the artist’s usual style. The rest of the committee agreed. The committee expressed their favor for Eric Nine’s design. They also liked Steffi Nicole’s designs. Vanya Foote expressed that in Jaliya Nicole Design’s concept, it looks like it would be well-executed art. Charles Rhome explained that he thinks that the committee may have misunderstood Leah Abucayan’s 1/3 design. He explained how this would look once it is done, and the committee now agreed that it is one of their favorite designs. Anna Talarico presented the designs to the committee. The committee ranked their top 14 concepts. Anna Talarico explained that the fire department wants to work with artists to have a Dalmatian design in front of Station 1. Charles Rhome expressed interest in submitting a Dalmatian concept. Anna Talarico explained that this is likely a conflict of interest. Carson Haynie will follow up with the city’s purchasing policy. Committee Member Robert Harrison made a motion to approve the fourteen selected designs; seconded by Committee Member Charles Rhome. The motion to approve carried with the following vote: Aye: 6 – City Council Liaison Oglesby, Committee Member Foote, Committee Member Harrison, Committee Member Rhome, Committee Member Scott, Committee Member Thomas Nay: 0 – None Absent: 1 – Committee Member Styf Committee Member Robert Harrison made a motion to delegate which alternate designs will be used should one of the original fourteen not be able to fulfill the work; seconded by Committee Member Burke Scott.
