Thank you, Mr. Your Council member, Mr. O would be a good Yeah, I can I can kind of help out with that. So the park that you speak of that is part of a land grant. Uh that is in motion. Obviously plans got pushed back because of the flooding. So but that is still in the works that the timetable there has not been completely established. There are some things that we needed to do which we've completed with with an embankment there. As far as the um the bit tree that seems to be part of the community now, we are all in the process of getting all that move. I think Mike can pro I'm sorry. Um I think Mike can speak on that a little bit more, but we're going to be removing that and there will be a new dock put in. Uh we that that's all in motion. These things take a little time. Uh that is a huge tree. Okay. Mike, you want to give him a little more information on that? You have a couple questions. Did you want to get your questions and listen code enforcement has a a marshall dedicated to commercial properties and has been doing doing an excellent job of issuing notices of violation or just getting commercial property owners to take care to clean up the property essentially. But and by all means, we can get you in contact with staff. Um Rusty Martin was over community development and and uh happy to share what they're doing doing in that area. Are you referencing certain businesses or the actual roads? Okay. Yeah, the the roads are going through uh some updates also. So that's coming. As you can see, things are happening now in that area, some good conversations with folks who are interested in partnering with the city around to provide recreational services. Um, so that's still in the in the works, but that whole project's still moving forward. I'm very excited about the possibilities, but perhaps maybe if you want to catch up with Mr. Oglesby a little more, right? And and talk more, but Yeah. Yeah. Happy to go ahead. We've already consult. We're getting Thanks for being here. Thank you. Thanks. Nobody else signed up for public comment. Close that portion of the meeting. Move on to ward and staff reports. Pickkins is ready. We'll start with Thank you. Uh, Pro Tim Tim. Uh, no report, but just, uh, good luck to everyone starting school today. Hines, same. I hope everybody has a happy, uh, and a very good, successful new school year. Travis, thank you. They um just a reminder that the next public engagement session for the uh redevelopment of downtown of the uh the Baptist church site will be on August 18th at 5:30 at the community center. And uh a uh shout out to the Tilman House that dedicated the mural uh on their building yesterday at the corner of King and Church. With that, I yield. Mr. Welch. Uh I I just want to reemphasize what Travis just mentioned regarding the public meeting on the 18th. Um we really encourage everybody to come out to that meeting and offer up your opinions.

And one thing I want to mention, we we have the the council has seen three options or three different um drawings for the for the downtown area. And u one of the things we're looking for there is not necessarily whether you like one option or the other, but what you like or don't like about each option. So please come out and offer your opinion. Um that's the only way that we know what everybody's going to like and dislike and we'll make some decisions based on that with that. AM uh thanks Corki. Yeah, it's a it's a great point, right? Because like these options have become built out of what community input, right? and and Travis has been leading that over that effort and uh yeah right so this is the next phase coming back build the ideas that was come out of the community input got to keep hearing hearing from folks uh Mr. strugglesby. Yes, thank you. Uh, a few things. First of all, I want to congratulate our new uh, youth uh, US track and field all-Americans. Uh, recently we had numerous young folks here from the city here in Smyrna compete at the national championships for US Track and Field Association. this year was hosted in Savannah, Georgia at Savannah State, which is a lot closer to home than Oregon and Houston where we've been traveling for the past three or four years. And they brought home hardware once again. Uh I'm hoping to get the complete list soon. But we have a lot of all-Americans. When I say all-Americans, I do mean number eight at least in the entire country. So that's over thousands of kids. and we have at least 10 all-Americans coming home ranging from ages of seven to 17 years old. Also, there is a RFP out for from the uh uh obviously Smyrna is a public art uh friendly city. We have a new RFP out for uh we're going to continue the electrical box artwork or wrappings, whatever you choose. So, if you are artist or an aspiring artist, please take a look at our website. Hurry up though. It's closing up soon and and see if your art will be selected. Um, this particular art project will ensure that public art is in every ward in the city of Smyrna. Every ward. So, we're really excited about that. Um, that's it. I yield back. Thank you, sir. Appreciate that. Um, staff reports. Mr. Jones, anything else for us, Mr. Cochran? Awesome. Thank you. Uh with that, we'll adjourn this meeting at 7:23. John City

What this search can tell you

Coverage is incomplete. This collection tracks 118 meetings. 39 have searchable transcripts and 72 have searchable minutes; a meeting may have both. 10 currently have neither. A missing passage is not evidence that a topic was never discussed.

Speech and summaries stay distinct. Transcript passages preserve the available transcript text. Minutes are labeled as summaries, not spoken quotations. Speaker identities are shown only where the source or documented attribution supports them; an unattributed speaker remains unattributed.

Relevance does not establish a connection. Topic search uses meaning and words to help you locate passages. Read adjacent passages, follow the source and inspect any agenda context before drawing a conclusion about an official’s position or a decision.
